A new UPSA Pain Institute

Pain is invisible, yet it affects millions of lives, often in silence.

A reality that concerns us all.

Some key figures:

In France, 23 million people suffer from daily pain, and 70% of them do not receive appropriate care.
As the leading reason for general medical consultations, pain affects the quality of life of one out of every two patients.

This reality cannot be ignored by UPSA. Inaction is not an option : we must act now.

On the occasion of World Pain Day, on October 20th, 2025, UPSA is renewing its longstanding commitment to fighting pain with the creation of a new UPSA Pain Institute, aligned with current needs and challenges.

An independent, action-oriented Institute

The new UPSA Pain Institute is a public-interest foundation, with its own structure and independent of any promotional purpose.

Its governance is based on a board of directors and a scientific committee composed of around fifteen healthcare professionals, all recognized for their expertise and commitment to combating pain.

Its mission: to work with healthcare stakeholders to take concrete action for patients.

Train, innovate, support

This Institute will support the training of healthcare professionals in new therapeutic approaches and promote innovative initiatives that improve pain management and the patient care journey.

With this new Institute, UPSA continues its legacy as a leading player in the field of pain and reaffirms a strong belief: together, we can reduce pain and improve patients’ lives.
