Improve digestion1
Some digestive discomfort can be relieved and digestion improved by following these simple rules:
- Eat meals at regular times, in a relaxed setting
- Eat slowly: thorough chewing allows better absorption of nutrients
- Drink enough water, but not excessively
- Limit certain foods as much as possible:
- very fatty foods (fried items, cold cuts, rich sauces)
- spicy foods
- stimulants like coffee and tea
- foods that increase air intake: carbonated drinks, chewing gum, “airy” foods (meringues, sandwich bread)
- alcoholic beverages
- Avoid smoking
- Avoid tight clothing around the abdomen
- After meals:
- avoid lying down
- take a short “digestive” walk
